Sunday Stamps Card Challenge - 228

Card Sketches

Hello crafters and card makers.   Welcome.   Today's card had been created using the card sketch from #SSC228 or Sunday Stamps Card Challenge.   I don't know about you, but I love a card sketch.  Sometimes when you have an idea in your head, it's easy to get going and get crafty.   Other days, I don't always know where I want to get started.   Having a map, or directions, helps me spring into action.   Check out the sketch.

The second thing I love about sketches, is that the interpretation of the sketch can be very broad or exactly as you see.  This map for the #SSC228, has a diagonal split on one of the layering mats.  Love that!  Now let's have a look at my card.

Are you wondering why I have an Autumn theme going on here?   Good thinking.   This card is working for two challenges for me.  Currently I am involved in a #30cardmakingchallenge and on day 11 the theme was Autumn.  I used the map for this #SSC228 and combined the Autumn feel for the Sunday Stamps Challenge.

The final thing I love about card making sketches and challenges, is that I am able to stretch my creativity.  For instance, thinking about Autumn during Spring is not something I normally do.  That made this card fun.   In addition, normally I don't include diagonal cutting in my approach to card making.  This was so much fun and quite easy, I will continue to adopt this style in the future.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed my card and I have inspired you to create something today.   With the current global pandemic COVID-19, I wish you good health and be safe.  Make something for someone today!   Kindness is the greatest thing we can share!

Spring

Hello crafters!
Thanks for dropping by my blog.  Today's post is a bit special as it is the first.  The blog is technically still under construction, but I just could not wait to share today's card with you.

handmade greeting card by Sally Hessenius featuring Fable Friends from Stampin' Up!

Created this card for the #30daycardmakingchallenge from Martin Stone of Martins Mayhem in the UK.  The card challenge is a great distraction from the current global pandemic COVID-19.  To escape from the stress and worry with all that is going on, I've been creating and crafting to keep calm and carry on.  If you would like to check out Martin's creation, just click on the picture below.

The Details

For this card, I used Granny Apple Green for the card base with a So Saffron mat.  The background image was created by sponging the blue sky with Balmy Blue and for the grassy meadow I sponged a bit of Granny Apple Green.   I used mirror image technique for the Mama duck and fussy cut them all after coloring them with Stampin' Up!'s alcohol Blends Markers.   Often in the Spring, it rains quite a bit so I added the cloud from the recent March 2020 No Matter the Weather Paper Pumpkin Kit.  Of course I had to use the rain drop embellishments to complete the scene.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings.

Well that's all for today.  If you would like to shop any of the products I used to create this card, just click on the image below.
